The New Castle Boy’s Varsity Cross Country team had an exceptional season.  The varsity team included Le’Shawn Huff, Georgie Eggleston, Andre Corbin, Anthony Litrenta, Ryan Hunyadi, Jonah Miller, and Sky’ler Thomas.

The team earned a well-deserved share of the WPIAL Section 5-AA title with Moon. The Canes had six wins with only one loss in their section. Another huge accomplishment of the team was winning gold at the Midwestern Atlantic Conference Championships. The Red Hurricanes topped 21 other cross country teams at Brush Creek Park. The Canes won the title with 53 points ahead of the second place team, Beaver.

Recently, the team finished second at WPIALS. This gave the Hurricanes a spot in the State meet at Hershey. Le’Shawn Huff placed 5th out of 218 runners. Anthony Litrenta followed Huff in 13th place with Jonah Miller closely following Litrenta in 17th place. Zac Gibson was the next runner for the Hurricanes in 26th place. Then, Andre Corbin placed 29th. Georgie Eggleston and Ryan Hunyadi followed in 36th and 39th. At Hershey, the Canes placed 11th in the state for their last meet of the season.

Congratulations to the New Castle boys cross country team on a phenomenal season!
