Gabe Perrotta, Senior Editor

I recently had the opportunity to interview Rachel Zona. She is a senior editor for Eye of the Hurricane. Rachel is also a member of National Honor Society, Peer Leadership, and Student Council.  She plays both high school softball and travel softball.

What is your favorite subject?

  • Anything science or engineering for sure

What sports do you play?

  • I play high school and travel softball

What are your future plans?

  • I plan to attend college and major in mechanical engineering.

Who inspires you the most?

  • That is a really good question, because I am inspired by many people. If I had to mention one I would say my sister because she’s always worked hard and worked towards what she is passionate about, plus she always gives the best advice and is a built in best friend.

What do you like to do in your free time?

  • I love to do things like workout, play softball, read and write

Do you have any pets? If so, what are their names?

  • Yes, I have two small dogs, Bella and Nina

How long have you been a member of EOTH? Favorite part about being a member?

  • I have been a member for three years, and my favorite part would have to be working on bigger articles that require multiple aspects(like new pictures, interviews, etc.) with other members

What is your favorite book?

  • My favorite book would probably be The Land of Stories series, I love the twist on classic Disney movies.

What is your favorite movie?

  • That’s really hard for me because I like so many but since we are close to the holidays I’ll go with The Santa Clause.

What is your favorite memory from school?

  • My favorite memory from school is hard to pick, I’ve had many amazing times with my friends but one of the more recent ones was working on a year long engineering project with my group.

Do you have any advice for the seniors next year?

  • My advice to the seniors for next year is to make the most of the moments you get in high school. People always say time flies but it has in a different way for this generation with the pandemic changing our daily lifestyle for us. Enjoy what you have because it may be gone before you know it, and when things change look for the good in those moments to enjoy them too!

I hope you enjoyed learning more about Rachel, one of our senior editors! Best wishes in college next year!
