A Letter To Mrs. Williams!!!

Hailey Gonzales, Feature Writer

On Thursday, May 19th, New Castle News published an article announcing the official retirement of both Louis Abraham and Leah Ann Williams. Earlier this year, one of my fellow Eye of the Hurricane writers wrote a goodbye letter to the one and only Abe. So, I felt it was only fair to do the same for the incomparable Mrs. Williams.

I was honored enough to be a “student” of Mrs. Williams for the past 4 years and known her for many years before. I think I speak for anyone who knew her personally and/or had her as a teacher when I say she is truly one of a kind. Her number one goal seemed to always be to make learning science enjoyable for students. As someone who despises learning it, I can say she did quite a good job.

Besides being an absolutely outstanding teacher, she is also an all around great human being. On days where I had enough of school or personal life, I knew I could count on Mrs. Williams to help me back on my own two feet. She believed in me when even sometimes I didn’t believe in myself, and that’s truly something I could never thank her enough for.

Hearing this news was truly heartbreaking for me, and I’m sure many others. It is honestly hard to put into words just how much Mrs. Williams meant to New Castle High. I think I am speaking for all current and former students as well as everyone else when I say thank you for everything you have done. It has truly been an honor to have you as my teacher for the past few years and I wish you the best throughout this next chapter. NCASD will miss you!
