I had the opportunity to sit down with Mr. Mcclltrot one of the Sr. High guidance counselors here at New Castle. Enjoy getting to know Mr. Mike, and enjoy the interview Canes!

How long have you been working at New Castle?

I have been working here for 27 years. 

What did you do before being the guidance counselor?

I was a Math teacher.

What jobs do you have during the day?

It depends on the day, some days I am swamped with just paperwork, and other days I am able to talk with students about college or whatever is needed. 

Where did you go to college?

I went to Penn State Behrend, Slippery Rock, and Westminster College. 

What made you want to become a counselor?

I wanted to become a phycologist, but I went to be a school counselor instead. I personally enjoy working with kids and helping them personally. 

What degrees do you have?

I have a degree in Electronic Engineering, I have a Bachelor of Science in Math and a Master’s Degree in school counseling. 

What is the best part about your job? 

Everything! I like it all!

What are some challenges you have overcome this year?  

Adjusting to different tasks that I was not really familiar with.
