Marissa Jackson, Author

Have you ever wondered what some of the worst moments in American history were? Today I am going to talk about 3 dates that will forever be known in American history. Check them out!

Pearl Harbor

8:00 a.m. December 7, 1941, the attack on Pearl Harbor was so sudden and a surprise attack from the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service. Over 2,403 people passed away that day and destroyed/damaged 19 U.S. Navy ships, including 8 battleships.

The Japanese intended the attack as an action to keep the United States Pacific Fleet from interfering with its planned military actions in Southeast Asia against overseas territories of the United Kingdom, the Neverlands, and the United States. The surprise attack would drive the United States out of isolation and into World War II.

9/11

The date was September 11, 2001, at 8:14 a.m, nearly 3,000 people lost their lives on this day. A series of airline hijacking and suicide attacks were committed in 2001 by 19 terrorists associated with the Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda. It was the deadliest terrorist attack on the U.S. to this day.

San Francisco Earthquake

On April 18, 1906, over 3,000-6,000, people passed away due to an 8.0 magnitude earthquake. The subsequent fires that tore through the largely wooden buildings caused 90% of the damage in the city. 300,000 survivors lost their homes, with losses estimated at $6.5 billion.
