With another section championship, Coach Blundo and the Hurricanes grabbed the one seed in the 6A WPIAL Playoffs. One thing with the 6A bracket, there are only 8 teams so everyone got a round one bye.

New Castle will take on 8-seeded Norwin in the New Castle Field House on Friday, February 24th at 7:00 p.m.

New Castle finished the year 20-2; Norwin finished the year 14-8.

New Castle made the 5A PIAA and WPIAL Finals last year but lost in both games, one being a double OT loss in the WPIAL Finals. We know New Castle will want to make an even bigger run this year after they lost on 2 free throws to Laurel Highlands.

Norwin lost to Butler in the first round in last year’s 6A WPIAL Playoffs.

New Castle played in the 5A division last year but received a promotion but it hasn’t looked like it affected them based on how well they have been playing.
