Behind the scenes of every musical since Oklahoma! Has been senior, Tess Ambrosini. Tess has been a core member of New Castle’s drama productions and a hardworking team player. Fittingly, I interviewed Tess in the high school auditorium.

What is your favorite musical memory?

Dancing backstage, jumping into random scenes during rehearsal

What are you most excited about for Hairspray?

Being Mrs. Pinky because my role is in the musical this year.

What was the biggest problem you faced ,and how did you handle it?

People don’t listen to me. I have to know when to be nice and when to be serious.

What scene were you most proud of?

Snow with the train! I was relieved when we pushed the train together, and it didn’t rip the backdrop.

What is personally your favorite musical?

The Music Man because I played Amaryllis in second grade.

Do you have any advice for underclassmen interested in the musical?

Do it! It’s fun and you make a lot of friends you wouldn’t expect to be friends with. Musical brings people out of their shells.

Would you say musical brings out the best in people?

Yes, honestly people get to play different characters.

What are your plans for after you leave New Castle High?

I want to study early childhood education at Youngstown State University.
