New Castle Boys Cross Country Season

The New Castle Cross Country team is bouncing back off of a successful 2017 season. Last year presented their team with an undefeated section championship, a WPIAL runner up, and a state championship appearance. Losing one of their top runners, LeShawn Huff, New Castle hopes to repeat last years’ successes, but hopefully with a little more. This year the Running Red Hurricanes are aiming to capture a WPIAL and State Championship.

So far, they are off to a fantastic start. The boys team has represented Ne-Ca-Hi well. They’ve already captured three first place titles with dominating performances so far in Erie McDowell, West Middlesex’s “Big Red” Invite, and Sharpsville’s “Blue Devil” Invite. The Hurricanes broke a streak of 4th place finishes in Erie McDowell with their first place this season. Like in seasons passed, they have also dominated in their section meets. The boys team has gone undefeated in their section for their 2017 season and hope to have back to back undefeated seasons in their section. The Boys have won the last 24 section meets. So far this season they have established themselves as top competitors this Cross Country season. Capturing victories against Beaver, Moon, Ambridge, West Allegheny, Hopewell, and Montour. Keeping their undefeated streak alive thus far. The Boys still have one more section meet this upcoming Tuesday on October 2 against Central Valley and Blackhawk at Flaherty Field. The Canes head into October this month with a full head of steam. With upcoming meets like the Mac Championship at Brush Creek, the WPIAL Championship at California University, and the State Championship in Hershey. As a team the Canes were ranked 4th overall in the 2A and will be one hard team to beat. The Running Red Hurricanes hope to capture victories at all of these meets and end 2018 on top of their division this Cross Country season.
