There is an undocumented, mythical creature that some people believe is lurking in forests all over the world. Different cultures give this creature different names but it is most commonly known as Sasquatch, A.K.A. Big Foot. It is described as a primate standing on two feet between 6 foot and 15 foot tall. They often let out a very high-pitched “cry” and have a foul stench. These creatures gained the title of big foot because of the ginormous 25 inch footprints that are found in rural and suburban areas and believed to be left by them (that is a size 25 shoe, the same size as Shaq!).

Sasquatch is very prevalent in cultures all around the world. Is this because our ancestors had encounters with this creature and the stories have been passed down for many generations? Each culture group refers to the creature with a different name:

            Sasquatch/Bigfoot: Americas

            Himalayas: Yeti

            Australia: Yowie

            Mongolia: Almas

            Canada: Wendingo

            South America: Mapingauri

            China: Yeren

The most famous film in which Sasquatch was caught on camera is known as the Patterson film, recorded back in 1967.  The film was taken in Buff Greek, California.   The film shows a very hairy, man-like creature swinging it’s arms and walking into the woods. In this film the unidentified creature turns slowly and looks at the camera before looking away and walking back into the woods to where it can not be seen. Critics say that this was just a man in a costume or some complicated video editing, but others who believe in Big Foot say that this film is very strong evidence to the existence of the mysterious creature.

There have been search parties walking through the woods looking for this creature all around the world. There is even a show called Finding Bigfoot in which a group of explorers search for the almighty Sasquatch. But the mystery of Bigfoot still remains and will remain for years: UNSOLVED!!!
