On October 5th, 2018 Venom was released by Sony Production Company in relations with Marvel Studios. Venom is based on iconic characters from Marvel Comics. Venom follows Eddie Brock, a journalist that is trying to take down Carlton Drake, the notorious and brilliant founder of the Life Foundation. While investigating one of Drake’s experiments, Eddie’s body merges with the alien symbiote Venom — leaving him with superhuman strength and power. Twisted, dark and fueled by rage, Venom tries to control the new and dangerous abilities that Eddie finds so intoxicating.

Gabe’s Critique

The movie Venom had exceeded my expectations, while Sony usually high rolls their movies with Marvel Studios and ends up low balling in the box office, Venom had everything I could have asked for in the standalone anti-hero film. Before the release of the film I had read many critic reviews stating “Venom is a joke of a Marvel movie.” and “Not even Tom Hardy could save the movie.” I went into the theater with very low expectations. Coming out of the theater I was stunned, the movie had a great set-up, a great explanation of how everything came to be, a great hero, a great antagonist, and a great ending. With the perfect blend of action, drama, and comedy, I have no doubt that this movie deserves more than what it has already received, and I highly recommend to viewers.
