This year’s 2019 STEAM project with Mr. Panchik focused on Drones. This particular project was composed of three parts. Part one was the development of the lesson content. Part two was the production of a multimedia package that included lesson videos, animations and logos for the ROAV copter mini curriculum. Part three included a journal article to introduce the curriculum. The purpose of this project was to develop a comprehensive piloting, coding, and data collecting curriculum for the students.

This curriculum offers both hands on experiences and teaches problem solving skills. The curriculum is designed to take a student with little or no prior experience and guide them to be able to pilot and eventually be able to program a mini drone to perform a specific task.  There were three main steps to the project: the first was deciding which drone should be used, second was students observing the proper handling of the drone, and  finally part to the project was students flying the drone though the obstacle course. Like most technologies implemented into classrooms, drones are another engaging method of integrating STEM education. Not only did this help the students get involved but it help teachers who were looking for a new and fun way to get students involved in classrooms.
