Lady Canes and University of Pittsburgh Star Makes History

Former Lady Canes Basketball Star Lorri Johnson recently made history as being the first female athlete for the University of Pittsburgh to have her number retired. Johnson is Pitt’s all time leading scorer in basketball with 2,312 points during her career at Pitt from 1987-1991. Johnson was honored Sunday, Jan. 13 at halftime of Pitt’s game against Boston College. A graduate of New Castle Senior High School Johnson is the leading scorer in New Castle High School history and ranks second in Lawrence County women’s basketball history with 2,110 career points.
