I recently had the opportunity to sit down and really get to know one of New Castles math teacher’s Mrs Joseph. At a young age, Mrs. Joseph knew she wanted to be a teacher.   Mr. Pacella was very instrumental in her wanting to teach math. Mrs. Joseph had the following math classes with him: Algebra 2, Trigonometry and AP Calculus.  While at Union High School  she volunteered for a program to assist elementary students in math.  After this experience  she decided that secondary education would be her passion.

After high-school Mrs. Joseph attended (WVU) West Virginia University and earned her Bachelors Degree in math, as well as, a Master Degree  in Education at Slippery Rock University. While in college she was a student teacher at both Benjamin Franklin Junior High School and New Castle  Senior High School-eight weeks at each school. After she graduated she became a substitute teacher at Union high School.  Her tenure at Union High School lasted  for a year and a half before getting multiple job offers.  Mrs. Joseph  eventually had to choose between New Castle and Wilmington High School.  New Castle students turned out to be very fortunate given that she joined the New Castle Senior High School Math Department in 2005.
