The Todd Philips directed film ‘Joker’ was created with a (by comparison) small budget of $55 million and has raked in the cash at box offices for the third weekend in a row. The film has surpassed a whopping total of $735 million worldwide as it continues to crush the box office overseas, earning $77 million just this past weekend. This is to no surprise, as the Joker is one of the most iconic and recognizable characters to ever be created and fans and non-fans alike have been dying all year to get their eyes on what everyone is referring to as a masterpiece of a film. And with a strong R-rating, Philips was able to create the most realistic and horrifying live-action version of the character we have ever seen. As someone who has seen the film themself, I can completely agree with what most critics are saying in that this movie is truly one of a kind for its genre and will certainly blow whoever is sitting in front of that projector screen away. You can tell that this was a passion project for everyone involved, especially the star, Joaquin Phoenix, as his performance is regarded in my opinion as one of the best I have ever seen in any film in general. This movie deserves every penny you pay to see it, and as it continues to explode across theaters everywhere, it is sure to become one of the most profitable films of all time.
