Hall of Fame: Baseball Class of 2020
May 4, 2020
Before the Hall of Famers were recently announced, you pretty much knew there was one for sure Hall of Famer. His name was Derek Jeter a member of the New York Yankees. I’m pretty sure you all know about him. One of the greatest Yankees to ever play at Yankee Stadium. The fourteen-time All-Star and 5-time Gold Glover gained 99.7 percent of all of the votes, 1 vote away from a unanimous Hall of Famer. Sadly, this writer may not be astute in baseball as one should have been in terms of this questionable vote. A player today needs 75 percent of the vote to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. There was only one other person elected with Jeter. His name was Larry Walker. We will go through a brief list of both of their accolades.
Jeter
- 14 All-Star appearances
- 5 Gold Glove Awards
- 5 Silver Slugger Awards
- 2 Hank Aaron Awards
- 1 Roberto Clemente Award
Walker
- 7 time Gold Glove
- 5-time All-Star
- NL MVP
- 3-time Silver Slugger
- 3-time Batting Champ
Below, is the Post’s Hall of Fame Ballot.
There is a lot of controversies with these ballots, including steroids, and other forms. But, I do believe that Bonds and Schilling will get in next year. But, that is still a little while away.
