Yankees Past and Present
November 3, 2017
The New York Yankees have always been known as a great baseball team. Back in the late days the players that became baseball legends were Babe Ruth,Whitey Ford, Mariano Rivera, Derek Jeter, Yogi Berra, Mickey Mantle, Lou Gehrig, and finally Joe DiMaggio. These stars for the Yankees won their club an amazing 27 World Series championships as well as becoming baseball hall of famers. So coming into the 2017-2018 season they were just looking to rebuild and start new with some of their young rookies. Some of the new stars on the New York Yankees got them off to a great start and devastating finish of the season. One of those stars is Aaron Judge. Judge won the Home Run Derby at the 2017 All Star Game. Judge also hit 56 home runs drove in and 114 RBI’s during the 2017 season.
Didi Gregorius also had huge shoes to fill with replacing Jeter and he did just that batting a 287 and coming up in a huge game 5 to go to the ALCS with two home runs. They never thought they would make the playoffs and just like that they did. They won the wild card game against the Minnesota Twins and then played the Cleveland Indians in a five game series and won in game five to advance to the ALCS. They then faced the Houston Astros winner going to the world series in a seven game series. They fought all the way to game seven to fall a little short on a remarkable season.
