Calvin Ridley Suspended for Gambling

Anthony Presnar, Senior Author

During the 2021-2022 NFL season Falcons Wide Receiver Calvin Ridley only played 5 games and sat out the rest of the season. He sat out the season due to ongoing issues with his mental health and family. However what we did not know was that he was secretly betting on football games, which is against the NFL rules for players.

With that being said the NFL decided to suspend Calvin Ridley for the entire upcoming season (2022-2023). He may have bet and lost a little money, but now he is losing a whole season’s pay for what he did. Did the NFL jump the gun on Ridley’s suspension? Many people were making comments about other NFL players who got into some domestic violence disputes and did not really see any harsh punishments. For example, a player may have beat up his wife and he would only get suspended for 3-6 games. With that being compared to Ridley’s suspension, it leaves everyone in shock whether the NFL should rethink their rules and the lengths of suspensions for the actions of the players. Most likely this suspension will get changed once the 2022-2023 NFL season starts.

We shall see what the outcome is come NFL season time.
