How Careful are You in the Sun?

If you hadn’t noticed by now, Summer is on its way. Spending all day outside in the sun sounds amazing right? It very well can be, as long as you’re careful. With the temperature rising and the sun shining, you wanna make sure your skin is staying safe.

Here are some ways you can keep your skin safe during summer! The best thing you can do is wear sunscreen. Sunscreen plays an important role by blocking out the ultraviolet radiation from being absorbed into the skin. By wearing sunscreen, you can lessen the risk of getting sunburn, sun poisoning, and more. Sun poisoning is a skin burn from too much exposure to sunlight or sunlamps. Symptoms include skin redness and peeling, pain and tingling, fever, headache, dizziness, and more. When you’re sick, you’re not going to want to do anything. This takes away from having fun all summer vacation! Now sun poisoning you can recover from easily, but the most damaging thing sun can do to you is give you skin cancer. Basal and Squamous cell skin cancers are the most common type of cancers. They often start in the epidermis (the top layer of skin) when exposed to the sun. Most skin cancers can be cured if caught early enough. However, more advanced cases can be fatal.

So instead of arguing with your loved ones about not wearing sunscreen, just wear it! Who knows, it could possibly save your life. So always remember to stay safe and wear your sunscreen this summer!
