Farewell, Mrs. Joseph!

Maryn Sylvester, Junior Writer

To all hurricanes, if you have not heard our dear Mrs. Jo is retiring. She has been with us for many years and has impacted the lives of many students. She has definitely impacted my life greatly and I am so sad to see her go. She has made my high school years some to never forget. Today, I had the chance to sit down and ask her some questions about retirement and what she has in store for the future!

Q: How long have you been teaching?

FJ (Fran Joseph): I had started subbing out in 1973, and I was permanently employed here in 2003.

Q: Are you sad you are leaving?

FJ: Not at all, it’s a bitter-sweet feeling. NCASD has been such a big part of my life for the past 20 years, however, I am looking forward to spending extra time with my family.

Q: What will you miss the most?

FJ: The sense of community, belonging to something bigger than myself, the staff is second to none were one big family.

Q: What are your plans for after you retire?

FJ: Coffee on the deck, read a good book, and relax

Q: What is one thing you will never forget from all of your years teaching?

FJ: It’s impossible to pick one thing, each student has impacted my life in a different way.

Q: What is one perk of your leaving?

FJ: I’m giving an opportunity for a younger teacher to get a job.

Sadly, Mrs. Joseph will be leaving us at the end of this school year. We all wish her the best of luck in the future. We are excited about this new chapter in your life. Make sure you stop in and visit one last time! Farewell Mrs. Joseph!
