Star Wars: The Last Jedi Review

The movie starts off like any other Star Wars movie does. The Star Wars logo appears along with  the text there after. This movie is based on the sole focus of Rey convincing Luke Skywalker to train her to become a Jedi. The first scene in the movie is based around Poe Dameron trying to steal plans from a Star Destroyer. After he appears to be successful in the mission. War breaks out through the galaxy. Princess Leia also appears in this scene at a base as well. In the end of this scene Poe Dameron and the rest of the rebellion destroy a Dreadnought. After Princess Leia deranks Po for his command.

The next scene in the movie is what us Star Wars fans have been waiting since the 2015 instalment , The Force Awakens. Rey finds Skywalker and hands him his lightsaber. With Luke not being convinced. Luke tosses the lightsaber to the ground and tells Rey to get lost. With Rey trying to plead her case. Luke is not convinced she is telling the truth until Rey tells Skywalker that Leia sent her there and the resistance is falling and they need his help. Luke Skywalker finally agrees to train Rey to become a Jedi.  

During this film, we see a lot times where Rey and Kylo Ren connect (talk) to each other through the force. During this time, Rey tries to convince Kilo to join her in the light. Kylo Ren has been dreading this moment for years he says. We can relate that to him refusing to kill his mother, Leia, earlier in the film. There are also times where Rey is contemplating to go to the dark side.

In this film, we also find out the mystery of Rey’s parents.All the fans speculated that Luke Skywalker would have been her father, but that is not the case. Kylo tells Rey that her parents were 2 drunks that sold her for alcohol and left her of the planet of Jakku to fend for herself at a very young age. There is no mention of who her foster parents were.

During the middle of the film, Rey is captured by Kylo and taken to Supreme Leader Snoke’s Flagship. There Snoke is calling Kylo a coward for not being who he thought he was made to be. At this point Kylo has had enough. Kylo uses the force to move Rey’s lightsaber on his table and positions it right at Snoke. The lightsaber slices right through the middle of Snoke and kills him. At this point Rey and Kylo work together to takedown and kill all of the Potorian Guards. After all the Potorian guards are killed.Rey and Kylo fight over the right to own Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber. The lightsaber ends up exploding.

After this scene we see Luke Skywalker on Ahch-To where he has been since episode 7. He goes to the temple that holds the Jedi scriptures from thousands of years ago. Out of nowhere appears Yoda. Skywalker is surprised to see Yoda especially since he’s been dead for over 50 years. In this film, he appears as a Force Ghost. Yoda tells Luke that the scriptures are irrelevant and with the power of the force, he burns the temple holding the books. Luke tries to save them but Yoda force pushes him back before he does.  

Going on throughout the movie, Finn and Rose go on a journey to the planet Canto Bight, an amusement city with bright lights and casinos. There are there to gather intel on a Star Destroyer they are trying to get in to. While doing that, they get thrown into prison. There they meet a codebreaker. That’s who Finn and Rose need to get into the base. With the help of BB-8, they all steal a ship and get on their way to the Star destroyer. They get to the Star Destroyer and execute 3 stormtroopers and steal their gear to blend in. After this they try to steal plans by hacking into the base at the Star Destroyer. The Codebreaker ends up backstabbing Rose and Finn and they get arrested.

After this Rey goes back to  Ahch-To aboard the Millennium Falcon.Rey was told a story about what Luke tried to do to Kylo years ago. Rey goes to confront Luke. Luke admits years ago he felt Kylo was the next chosen one therefore he wanted to train him and 10 others to become Jedis. Luke felt kylo going to the dark therefore trying to kill kylo in his sleep one night. Kylo wakes up while while Luke was trying to kill him. With the force, kylo takes his saber and deuls with Luke until he uses the force to bury Luke in the buildings rubble. Luke then tells Rey that he failed Kylo and he fears that he will fail her as well.

The ending of the movie is starting to shape up. On the planet Craite, the Rebellion and the First Order engage in one more battle to take over the galaxy. The Rebellion are falling. With Kylo Ren and General Hux leading the way, it looks like the First Order is finally going to claim the galaxy. The Rebellion has fallen back so far there is nowhere left to go.Out of nowhere comes Luke Skywalker. The Rebellion are amazed to see the last jedi here. Luke goes onto the battlefield with his saber. Kylo is confused as to why Luke is here. He tells all the First Order to take him down. They start shooting at him. He survives and now Kylo takes to the fight. Kylo gets his saber and attacks Luke Skywalker. The saber goes right through Luke and he survives. Kylo now realizes Luke is appearing through the force, not in actual human form. The Rebellion now gather up on the Millenium Falcon and leave. The movie now ends on  Ahch-To  where Luke Skywalker dies and the robe he was wearing is blown away with the wind.     THE END
