Meet Chief Salem! Salem on Salem

Recently, I had the privilege of interviewing my father, Chief Ribert Salem.  Although he is my Dad, I have great respect for him and wanted to take the time to interview him for the students of our school.

Q: What do you do in your average day as Chief?

A:  Report with the community supervisor, go to meetings and answer important calls are just some of the daily tasks I do.

Q:  How long have you been a police officer and why did you select it as a career?

A:   I have been a officer for 23 years and have wanted to be one since I was young.

Q:  What  is your favorite memory in your career as a police officer?

A:   Being put into narcotics as a young officer.

Q:  What are some challenges you face as Chief?

A:   Internally in the station there are some problems to be solved as well as managing all the personality the heroin epidemic is also a very big challenge.

Q:   What skills do you need to be a police officer? 

A:  You need to be fair headed and a problem solver.

Q:   What role does the department  play with the New Castle School District?

A:  We provide a School Resource officer to every school as well as constant training for any incidents in  the school.

Q:    What do you like most about our community?  

A:   A lot of pride at sporting events

Q:   Last but not least, who is your favorite son? Tell me a little about your family?

A:   Joey my youngest son (wink wink)  and I  have four amazing kids and a lovely wife.
