Rock And Roll Hall of Fame Nominees 2019 Holiday Edition

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees will be announced in December of 2018, however this past October they released the nominees. To be eligible for nomination, an individual artist or band must have released its first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination.  Here’s a list of this year’s nominees:

 

  • Def Leppard – An English rock band formed in 1977, consisting of Joe Elliott, Rick Savage, Rick Allen, Phil Collen, and Vivian Campbell.
  • Devo – An American rock band formed in 1973 in Akron, Ohio. They are best known for their song “Whip It”.
  • Janet Jackson – An American singer, songwriter and actress. Born on May 16, 1966 (age 52 years) in Gary, Indiana. 
  • John Prine – An American country folk singer/songwriter who was born October 10, 1946 (age 72 years) in Maywood, Illinois. 
  • Kraftwerk –  a German band formed in Düsseldorf in 1970 by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider.
  • LL Cool J- His full name is James Todd Smith and he’s an American Hip Hop recording artist, record producer, actor author and entrepreneur.
  • MC5 – An American rock band from Lincoln Park, Michigan, formed in 1964.
  • Radiohead – An English rock band from Abingdon, Oxfordshire, formed in 1985.
  • Rage Against the Machine – An American rock band from Los Angeles, California. Formed in 1991, the group consists of vocalist Zack de la Rocha, bassist and backing vocalist Tim Commerford, guitarist Tom Morello, and drummer Brad Wilk.
  • Roxy Music – An English rock band formed in 1970 by Bryan Ferry, who became the band’s lead vocalist and chief songwriter, and bassist Graham Simpson.
  • Rufus Featuring Chaka Khan – Rufus was an American funk band from Chicago, Illinois best known for launching the career of lead singer Chaka Khan.
  • Stevie Nicks – Stephanie Lynn Nicks is an American singer and songwriter. Nicks is best known for her work as a songwriter and vocalist with Fleetwood Mac. She is known for her distinctive voice, mystical stage persona, and poetic, symbolic lyrics.
  • The Cure – English rock band formed in Crawley, West Sussex, in 1976.
  • The Zombies – An English rock band formed in 1961 in St Albans and led by keyboardist and vocalist Rod Argent and vocalist Colin Blunstone.
  • Todd Rundgren -An American multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, and record producer who has performed a diverse range of styles as a solo artist and as a member of the band Utopia.
