Senioritis affects many seniors in high school all across the country. Senioritis is described as a decline in motivation, an increase in procrastination, and an overwhelming feeling in seniors to just want the school year to be over and done. Senioritis can begin at the beginning of a student’s senior year or toward the end. Usually, many seniors who began to experience senioritis have been accepted to a college already so they feel as if there is no reason to try anymore. Many students will begin to miss more school, skip classes, not study, and maybe not even do any work at all. Although you may have been accepted into your dream school, it is best to continue to work hard and strive for good grades. Surprisingly, even if you have been accepted, a college can take away your acceptance if they see that your grades have dropped immensely. Also, merit scholarships can be awarded based off grades so unless you don’t care about being in a ton of debt, then keeping up your grades will allow you to be recognized for your academic achievements. Overcoming senioritis can be difficult, but it is not impossible. A tip to overcome senioritis is to remember grades matter and continuing to work hard will prepare you for college. Also, taking everything one day at a time and setting small goals will allow you to stay calm without getting overwhelmed during your senior year. Again, in college you have to work hard, go to class, and do your work. You don’t want to start bad habits now because in college you are paying lots of money to get a degree there so slacking off will cost you more than just a letter grade. Seniors all across the country are eager for graduation day to come and to move on to the next path in their lives. Although, it is normal for a senior to be eager to graduate and move on, it is best to enjoy the time you have while it is still there. There are many new opportunities and experiences each person will go through in life which is exciting, but don’t wish time away. There will come a time in life, where you aren’t with your friends stuck in a building for 5 days a week. It may seem terrible now, but once it is over, that time will be missed greatly. Graduation day will come in a blink of an eye. Enjoy your senior year, work hard, and remember to have fun.
