Of Mice and Men Book Review
March 1, 2019
John Steinbeck’s “Of Mice and Men” was originally a book I was required to read for my English class I was not sure how to feel as I read the first couple pages, however as the story picked up I was charmed by the characters and their interactions. The story revolves around two companions who are polar opposites looking for work during the Great Depression. Lennie is a large hefty man, with a childlike mind. George is small and smart. He is Lennie’s “caregiver.” This book is based solely on the characters’ interaction and relationships with each other. I ended up falling in love with it. By the end of the book, Steinbeck got me hooked on the complex characters and their relationships. With a heart-wrenching ending, “Of Mice and Men” left me unsatisfied in the best way. I would recommend this book. It’s a quick read though it doesn’t feel rushed.
