On Thursday, October 24th, 2019 the New Castle Boys Cross Country team won the WPIAL. The score was 79-94. The boy’s team had a long successful season. The boys also won their section for the 4th time in a row. With a WPIAL championship win in their pockets, they had to start designing rings for the whole boy’s team. The boy’s coach Jeff Shaftic had much work to do with designing their rings but it wasn’t much trouble with the boy’s help. On February 13th the boys received their ring at the Cross Country Banquet. Also at the banquet was most of the WPIAl championship team from 1954. The ring has a silver rim with the last name of the runner on the side, along with the quote that was repeated throughout their season, “1 team 1 dream”. Antony Litrenta the #1 runner for New Castle stated: “It felt great to get the ring that we worked hard for and deserved.”
