Alex Lovett, Poetry Writer

Recently tragedy struck the family and friends of a young student who passed away -Kasia Walker. I was a friend of hers for a while until she transferred schools and we grew apart, but the dreadful news still hit me hard. I couldn’t imagine how many who were affected. So, this poem is for you, someday I’ll see you again and tell it to you.

Kasia.

Which whispers were yours? Were they audible to the naked drum?

In the head of yours, where the butterflies went to hide

Did you share the same smile which was so beauteous?
When did you let the cherry gum
be cherry gum, why didn’t you defy?

A pretty soul for the angels, one full of the same joy you shared with ones around.

Your laugh plays onward in my mind, it was always one of my favorites.

Even after your goodbyes, you replay, never to frown.
Your song will play with the cherries, with the butterflies, all the good and bad.

Don’t be sad for now, I’m not sad for now.

I am happy to have known such a beautiful angel.
So, I will never say goodbye.

A new garden to sow, say goodnight.

Say see you later, you taught us to live a life from a new angle.

I love you, see you later.

Think of this less of sad, but more so hopeful. In the end, she was strong, lovable, full of joy to the people she saw. Sometimes in life, we have to say see you later.
signed, Alexis.
