90 Feet with the Eye of the Hurricane

Josh Hoerner, Senior Editor

The Eye of the Hurricane is starting a new series.  An interview series where we walk the length of the court with a basketball player and ask them questions about their season.  The first person we are interviewing is seni0r Nick Wallace.  Nick is a starting forward and has played for Coach Blundo since 9th grade.  Hope you enjoy the interview: Josh.

Q: Being a senior, this is your last year.  What are some things you have done differently to prepare for this year?

A: with me being a senior this year put me in a perspective I’ve never been in before. Looking at this is my last year ever at new castle, I make sure every single day that I give it my all and leave it all on the floor because this time next year I won’t have what I have now.

Q: What makes this team so special?

A: This team is senior-oriented that has a great bond. We may not be the biggest but we will go out and compete with anyone you put us against.

Q: What does this sport mean to you?

A: This sport means the world to me. It has been since 1st grade, I don’t know where my life would be without basketball.

Q: How do you prepare for games?

A: Preparing for games is a huge factor because it gets you ready and your legs warm. I usually start off with a good long stretch and then get a ball in my hand and start getting loose.

Q: What does it mean to be a red hurricane?

A: Being a Red Hurricane is an honor, it’s something not everyone can do. I get to run out every Friday home game to a huge crowd, and a great atmosphere and play the game I love at a fast and hard pace.

We wish Nick and the Canes the best of luck moving forward.
