Hey Canes! Meet Evan Cotelesse. Evan is a senior here at New Castle and is an extraordinary singer. Enjoy the interview!

  • What is your favorite subject and why?

History, because it has always come naturally to me and I always find it interesting.

  • What is your favorite class you have taken and why?

U.S. history, because it’s the most interesting and relevant subject.

  • What do you plan to do after high school?

Going to Bc3 for a major in history and a minor in education.

  • What is your favorite part of singing?

The joy it brings me, and how my music can make others happy.

  • What voice part do you sing? What do you like most about that part?

Tenor 1, I’ve sung it my whole life and I’ve met some of my best friends from it.

  • What PMEA music festivals have you attended, and which did you enjoy the most?

I’ve been to two honors choir festivals, two districts, one regional, one states, and nationals. My favorite was nationals because it’s the highest you can get, and the talent that was in the room was unmatched compared to the other festivals, and a lot of the people that I met at states were at nationals.

  • What are your favorite songs you have sung in choir?

My favorite from regular high school choir is Ashokan Farewell, The Road Not Taken, and January Hymn. At festivals, I would say, Jenny, We Can Mend The Sky, Domine Fili, Music Down in My Soul, Wangol, and A Mighty Fortress is Our God.

  • What are your favorite songs in general?

I have too many songs I like to list but my favorite genres right now are rock, jazz, and classical.

  • What has been your most memorable high school experience?
Going through all the PMEA festivals and going to nationals.
The EOTH team wishes Evan the best of luck after high school. Thanks for reading Canes!
