May – Mental Health Awareness Month

May+-+Mental+Health+Awareness+Month

Carlee Miller, Author

Hey Canes! Every year in May, we recognize and raise awareness for people with mental health issues. Here are some ways to get involved, raise awareness, check up on your loved ones, and take care of yourself.

  • Educate yourself on mental health. Learn more about it: research statistics, self-care, and warning signs. A good place to start is the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). You can find lots of information on their website.
  • Create a self-care routine for yourself. Taking care of yourself is important! Go on walks, find a skincare routine, find healthy recipes you love, and find activities that you truly enjoy and will boost your mental health and well-being.
  • Check in on your loved ones. Everyone is struggling somehow, and sometimes all people need to make their day better is a simple “How have you been?” Checking up on your friends and family is important. It shows you care, and they’ll thank you for it.

What will you do to care for yourself and your loved ones this year? Let us know. Thanks for reading.
