In Ancient origins of Halloween dates back to nearly 2,000 years ago and originated in what is now eland. Halloween was first celebrated by Celts at the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. The United Kingdom and northern France celebrated Halloween on October 31st and the day after Pope Gregory III designated November 1st as All Saints Day, they believed the night of the 31st was when the lines between the world of the living and dead became blurred. This meant that ghost could return to earth between October 31st and November 1st. The Celts wore costumes and lit massive bonfires which they would sacrifice crops and animals in to ward of any potentially harmful spirits, this was the origin of modern day Halloween.

Modern day Halloween around the world consist of a variety of festive events and includes a vast range of countries. Ireland continues to celebrate much like that of their ancestors with bonfires, games and fruit cakes filled with coins or fortune telling rings.Mexico keeps tradition alive by carrying on the day of the dead, however they celebrate separate days for when they believe the children and adult spirits visit. They also leave offerings of bread and toys for the ghost. Japan has a very popular Halloween parade that brings in travelers from across the globe, this is called the Kawasaki Halloween parade and is just outside Tokyo. The Philippines version of Halloween does not include collecting candy, but prayers. Children go to the doors of their neighbors and sing carols in exchange for prayers for their loved ones in purgatory. These exciting Halloween traditions are making many others, all believed to have originated at the Celtic Festival of Samhain.
