What+is+a+Solar+Eclipse%3F

As many people already know Western, PA is going to be in the direct path of the next Solar Eclipse, but that got me to realize people don’t actually know what a Solar Eclipse is and how it starts.

What is a Solar Eclipse?

A solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth. Sometimes the Moon only blocks part of the Sun’s light. This is called a partial solar eclipse. Other times, the Moon blocks all of the Sun’s light. This is called a total solar eclipse.

When was the first ever Solar Eclipse?

The first Solar Eclipse ever recorded was on May 3rd, 1375 BC or March 5th 1223 BC

When is our next Solar Eclipse?

April 8, 2024 starting at 2:00 PM EST and the next one won’t be visible from the U.S. until 2044

Hopefully you learned something new today Canes! Make sure you get outside to see this one and remember to never look directly at a Solar Eclipse without special glasses on. Stay safe and enjoy this while you can.
