May 1, 2018
A ninety eight-year-old nun became the face of college basketball this past NCAA basketball tournament Without any doubt, the sport is much better off for it based on her love for basketball and her team. Over the tournament this past spring, Sister Jean Dolores-Schmidt, who acts as a chaplain for the Loyola University Chicago Ramblers, became one the most recognizable figures in United States team sports. This popularity took place following the team’s back-to-back upset wins in the NCAA Tournament. Sadly, Loyola’s Cinderella season came to an abrupt end with a loss to Michigan in the final four 69-57. Despite the loss Sister Jean and Loyola kept Americans glued to their television screens throughout the NCAA tournament.
