My name is  Danielle Vignovich  and this is my first article for the Eye of the Hurricane.  I am am pleased to inform you about the New Castle Senior High School Flag Line-and where and when we perform.  Spectators can catch us twirling and spinning flags every Friday night at 7:00 pm next to The New Castle Hurricane Band! The team is made up of fourteen  girls plus our amazing Majorette. Together we navigate all the up’s and down’s that comes with our colorful flags and  signature red lipstick💋. To prepare for the team we spent a week trying out together.  With hard work we thankfully all made the team!!! Soon came all of the hard work that we all thought we prepared for however let me tell you a little secret: it continues to be a work in  progress but eventually we will continue to develop our skills and become the team you see today.Together we have spent the vast majority of past summers together training, dancing, exchanging funny stories and sleeping in the commons during lunch.  Without a doubt it has filled my summer with laughter, friendships, and love  for each  other that I would not trade for the  world! A special thank  to our Captain Tori Kobbe, Junior Jordyn Berry, and Junior Kk Waller.  Kudos to  the upperclassmen who have all put their energy and time in to teaching us everything we know today.

Look How Professional We Look!!                                                                  We miss you Shania!!!!

Flag Line is a lot more than just friendship.  The team requires a lot of conditioning, arm strength and synchronization. Flag requires a lot of effective communication skills and concentration during the routines. The sport is affiliated with the majorettes. Majorettes  have a different role and perform with a smaller pole called a baton. Our majorette Maryn Sylvester has been twirling for a little over seven years and she loves it!!  Her talent gives her a place to shine given that she is the only baton twirler in our ensemble. The entire team works hard to have good routines-however it is very difficult not to make a mistake. However, we enjoy the practice and team-work which enables us to only get better as we mature in our effort. We hope to see you at next years tryouots! Until then I will keep you updated with the games and all of the new adventures we take together as a team.
