Gabriel Perrotta, Feature Editor

I had the opportunity to interview Armande Perrotta. He graduated in 2015 from New Castle High School and then went on to become a police officer. He went to the Community College of Beaver County Police Academy.

Question: What police academy did you go to? How long did you have to attend?

Answer: I went to the Beaver County Community College Police Academy for eight months. I was there from 5:00 – 10:00 at night, Monday through Friday.

Question: What made you go to the police academy instead of attending college?

Answer: I chose the police academy over college because I didn’t need a degree to get a job at a department.

Question: What did a day consist of while at the academy?

Answer: The days were broken up between Mondays and Fridays. Physical training/running were on Mondays and Fridays. Normal classes were on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Question: Is there any specific classes that you would tell someone to take in school who would like a future in law enforcement?

Answer: The biggest class that you need to take is any English class because the job consists of writing reports and the reports cannot have any grammatical errors.

Question: What are the most challenging tasks that you have to complete?

Answer: The most challenging tasks I have to complete are having to work double shifts at different departments, working midnight shifts, and making arrests

Question: Is it hard to not take your job personal in some situations?

Answer: Yes, it because of how people treat you for trying to do your job . Most of the time people are cooperative, but you will get a few who are rude and/or uncooperative.

Question: What departments do you work for?

Answer: I work at the Neshannock Township , New Beaver Borough, Mahoning Township, and Hickory Township police departments.

Armande is a proud graduate of the class of 2015.  Armande wanted to leave you with these words to live by:   “never give up, no matter how hard it gets.”
