Zac Gibson is a sophomore here at New Castle. He was apart of last years musical but was not the lead.

Tell me about yourself:

I’m a sophomore, I like reading and working on my photography. I run for New Castle cross country, I play Alto Saxophone for New Castle Marching Band, and I’d like to think of myself as somewhat smart. My favorite musical currently is Little Shop of Horrors. I’m very excited to be playing my character in this year’s musical.

What do you love about your character?

Well, I like that he’s very adventurous and free-spirited.

How did you react when you found out you were Sky in the Musical?

I was surprised honestly, I’d auditioned for a smaller part because I wasn’t really sure if I was even capable getting a lead, but Mr. Lee (Director) believes I earned it and is excited to see what I can do.

What made you want to be in the Musical?

I first wanted to join the musical production after watching New Castle’s Singing In The Rain in 2016, it was one of the first times I watched a high school musical since I was little. I thought the play was excellent, the songs, the lights, and the stage art.  All of it was amazing and it was the best experience when I got my first shot at a musical in last year’s Hairspray! I never really realized how much went into the production of a musical.

How hard is it to learn the dances and lyrics to songs?

Some of the dancing is difficult, and the goal is to step it up every year, but it’s nothing the cast can’t handle; especially with our wonderful instructor, Mrs. Rice, who professionally choreographs the dances.

What sort of people will love the musical?

Really the musical is for everyone and New Castle always puts on a good show on the stage or on the field. There’s always something to love.
