New Castle Baseball Sets Sights On a Title

Rocco Bernadina, Sports Writer

New Castle Baseball has commenced thoroughly in their preseason training. There are various entitlements to certain practices, whether it is Defense, Offense, Signals or Strength and Conditioning.  Our head coach is Billy Cook and assistant coach is Andy Fry Aaron Lillibridge  Eric Montozzi

For their defensive practices, they go through many drills that involve footwork, hand eye coordination and arm strength. The team’s offensive practices involve bat speed, running speed, base-running and pitch recognition drills.

The parts of practices that are extremely intellectually driven are the Signals. This is where the team gathers together and goes over all of the ways to secretly devise a plan to score, or put themselves in a safer position defensively.

For the Strength practice segments, the team lifts weights and practices common athletic movements with resistance bands. To condition, they complete various cardiovascular activities making them capable to compete as hard as possible for longer amounts of time.

As you can tell, the New Castle Baseball Team is training hard and ready to endure all of the hardships that they will come across this season. With hopes that this will pay off in the end, they will continue to work hard at New Castle’s very own, THE RACK.

I believe that the fans would be happy to know that the team doesn’t think that there is an easy way to success. The boys believe in their hearts that the only way to success is through hard work and dedication.
