Canes Alumni: Norman and Dr.George Gabriel: Living Out a Brotherhood

I recently had the opportunity to interview two former New Castle- graduates, as well as, brothers.  Both  Norman and Dr. George Gabriel are extremely successful graduates from Ne-Ca-Hi.  Norman owns Washington Center Physical Therapy, while Dr  George Garbiel is one of the top cardiologists at Allegheny Hospital.  I hope you enjoy the interview- Josh.

 

 

Dr.George Gabriel, Cardiologist.

Question: What year did you graduate from New Castle?

Dr:George: 1982

Norm: 1983

Question: Fondest memory from high school?

Dr.George: Hanging out with friends.

Norm: When I played for the football team, and we beat Upper St.Clair, who at the time was 11-0, and it was a semifinal playoff game.

Question: Favorite teacher/mentor from high school?

Dr.George: Mrs.Callahan, business.  My parents because they taught me all of the principles of life, and how to succeed.

Norm: Mr.Spina, Chemistry.  My parents and grandparents because of their unconditionally love and support.

Question: Where did you attend college, and when did you graduate?

Dr.George: Gannon University, and 1992.

Norm: Mercyhurst 1987, and Pitt 1990.

Question: What kind of sports experiences did you have in high school/college?

Dr.George: My senior year, the basketball team went to the state championship.

Norm: I played college football at Mercyhurst.

Question: How long have you have been participating in your practice?

Dr.George: 27 years.

Norm: 32 years.

Question: Why did you chose that profession?

Dr.George: To help people, and give back to the community, as well as contributing to the Medical Body of Knowledge.

Norm: I hurt my knee playing football, and I started to study the science behind the sport.

Question: What would most people be surprised to know about you?

Dr.George: I have a great, and loving family.

Norm: I love dogs, and all animals in general.

Question: What advice would you give students today?

Dr.George: Work hard.  Study hard, and do what is best to achieve your dreams.

Norm: Be yourself, and always remember happiness.

Question: What does family mean to you?

Dr.George: Family means everything, and it a blessing to spend every day with them.

Norm: Family is the definition of life to me, and I have a great one.

Question: Favorite restaurant?

Dr.George: Oakmont Bakery

Norm: Buffalo Wild Wings
