Hey Canes! Did you know the advantages and disadvantages of working in High School? I know having a job can be amazing, making your own extra cash, but sometimes it may get in the way of what is important at school. Check out the pros and cons of working!

Pros-

• Can teach the importance of budgeting. Students may see see how quickly money can be spent on everyday items.
• It can build confidences. Balancing a job, school, and extracurricular activities can show a student how capable they are.
• It can also help teenagers stay out of trouble. Summer jobs have been shown to decrease incidents by 43%.

Cons-

• Lack of sleep. Going from school to work can leave you to get little sleep.
• Most jobs that hire from 14-17 do not teach valuable skills.
• Hurts academic achievement. Working and keeping grades up is not an easy task to manage.
