MTV Video Music Awards 2019

The MTV Video Music Awards took place on August 26, 2019, at the Prudential Center in Newark. This was the first VMA ceremony that was held in the city of New Jersey with Sebastian Maniscalco hosting for the 36th annual ceremony. The opening act started with Taylor Swifts performance of ”Lover” and “You Need To Calm Down,” both released on her new album “Lover”. She ended up winning video of the year award along with video for good and best visual effects.

Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift were the most awarded with three awards each. Missy Elliot made an awesome performance with 8 of her songs and became the first female rap artist to achieve the Michael Jackson Video Vangaurd Award. Billie Eilish won three awards, but she unfortunately could not go due to being on tour in Russia. The Jonas Brothers were extremely thrilled to perform their new songs “Sucker” and “Only Human” then got to win their first VMA award for best pop, What an amazing welcoming back into the music industry! Ariana Grande walked off with artist of the year, best art direction and song of the summer. The performances from all the performing artists blew the crowd away.The award show ended with everyone coming together and Naughty By Nature finished it out with “Hip Hop Hooray”.
