I have recently had the honor and privilege of interviewing my grandmother, Victoria Francis, Ne-Ca-Hi Chic’s of “56”-I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did-Enjoy your day Gram-Tyler Francis

This article is to dedicated to my Gram and how much I appreciate this woman. Victoria Francis is a one of a kind lady. My grandma is a New Castle fanatic, a Chic’s of 56, treasurer of the New Castle Public library, treasurer of the Ladies of the Dukes (also a member), traveler, singer, dancer, cheerleader, and many more. You name it; she accomplished it.

Question: What is your secret to staying young?

“I tried to eat healthy, drink a lot of water, I never go to bed w/ makeup on, Praying, staying positive, being around good family and friends.

Question: What were your favorite subject in school, favorite teacher, and a great memory as being a part of the Chic’s of 56?

“My favorite subject was English, my favorite teacher was my gym teacher Mrs. Vaughn, and a great memory would be the interaction of friendship, and being a cheerleader.

Question: What advice do you pass along to your grandchildren?

“Choose your friends carefully, study hard, and always stay positive.”

Question: What is your favorite thing to do now?

“Dancing, reading, and teaching people how to dance.”

Question: How did you meet my grandfather (Vinicio Francis)?

“I met him through dancing. We were both involve in a fundraiser at church. Some days later, we saw each other at Cascade Park and He asked if Iwanted to dance.”

Question: What are some amazing trips you took with the St Vitus Choir?

“Singing for the Pope in Italy.”

Question: What do you miss about the Good Old Days?

“Being able to walk anywhere, and neighbors socialize more. You got to know your neighbor.”

Question: What is the difference between growing up in New Castle today from growing up in the 50s?

“The interaction, sports are interrupting family affairs. You were able to walk and be safe now everything depends on a car.”

Question: What activities do you remember doing as a child?

“Being a Cheerleader, and dancing for more than 12 years.”
