In the NEWS!! What is DACA?

Victor DiMuccio, Senior Editor

The term DACA has been in the news over the past year in our Nation’s capitol.  The Eye of the Hurricane wanted to take the opportunity to report on exactly what DACA stands for in terms on national policy.  In 2012 an order was put in place by former President Obama called the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, to protect illegal immigrants from immediate deportation until the age of 31. DACA is an American immigration policy that allows some individuals who were brought to the United States as an illegal alien and for children to receive a renewable two-year period of deferred action safety from deportation.  In addition this permits such individuals to become eligible for a work permit in the U.S.  The current administration and Congress are working on new legislation in terms of solving current immigration issues facing our country.

Sadly, this was my last article for the Eye of the Hurricane.  Indeed, it has been an  honor and privilege reporting to you on both national and international issues-Victor (Class of 2018)
