Cervelli onto the Atlanta Braves

Cervelli onto the Atlanta Braves

Nick Smiley, Sports Writer

The famous catcher of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Francisco Cervelli has left the team in free agency. The former Pirate’s star was with the team for five years. Cervelli joined the Pirates back in 2014 and played as a catcher. He was one of the best catchers in Pirates history, he made millions of plays at the plate. He’s had four to five concussions playing for the Pirates and has taken many injuries from being hit by runners at home plate. The reason why Cervelli left was that he was not getting much playing time and because of the Pirates not doing too well in their season. When he left on August 26, 2019, the Pirates record for the season was 61/79 he only played 42 of those games. The Atlanta Braves took this opportunity and offered him 11.5 million dollars. Cervelli took this opportunity and is now a member of the Atlanta Braves.
