Can the Cavaliers Keep Up the Pace?

The Cavaliers are off to a hot start, going 17-11 in their first 28 games.  Offseason acquisition Donovan Mitchell is averaging 29 points per game.  However, do they have enough firepower to keep up with the Bucks and Celtics?

Let’s start with this.  The Cavs are in 3rd place in the conference, and second in the division.  The Backcourt duo of Mitchell and Garland is averaging 50 points a game, and their starting 5 have looked really strong.  A completely different team from last year.

However, the Bucks and Celtics are currently dominating the East right now.  The Nets are not healthy right now and are still only a game behind the Cavs.  So, how can the Cavs keep up?

The Cavs can’t trade a first-round pick until 2029 and only own 2024, 2026, and 2028 because of the Donovan Mitchell trade.  However, there could be some value found on their bench.

Isaac Okoro needs a change of scenario.  The former top 5 picks has found himself on the Cavs bench to start the year.  He could be an interesting trade candidate.

Depending on how much depth the Cavs want to sacrifice is how trade will be made.  They have some interesting role players, some of whom have great potential.  This year isn’t make or break for the Cavs, as they still have a lot of guys under contract.

This is the best Cavs team we’ve seen since Lebron left.  Let’s see how far this young core can take them.
